A new ship and possibly a new member? (Open)

Artemis had gone from calm and watching to hyper and happy in a split second; any faster and it might have left Jynx with a mental case of whip lash. The girl certainly was happy a lot – something that was rather infectious really. Just watching Artemis made Jynx smile before she too headed down towards the ground: only in Jynx case she climbed much like a monkey the whole way down until with a final swing from a pole that held a potted plant she landed on the ground.

Her tail curled around her waist as she followed after Artemis, albeit a little slower: she wasn't worried about Alec leaving without her. She was excited to get on the ship, yes, but also worried about how blind she might end up being when she did so. She used the earth to see, and there wouldn't be any earth out on the ocean.

Seeing that Artemis had stopped by Konran to introduce herself she paused and did the same, though much more calmly then her friend. ”I'm Jynx, Jynx Yanagi.”, she would introduce herself in a soft spoken voice. She would then turn, following after Alec and Artemis at her own leisurely pace, though keeping up with them well enough. She too waited to hear the answer to Alec's question as to where their first stop would be while continuing to contemplate how in the world she was going to see on the ship. Absently she reached up and itched at her covered eyes; the clock she had taken to wearing to keep them protected sometimes caused her face to tickle funny.

Alec said cool, and that they should head out. He asked someone named Kinzoku to clean up the trash - meaning that dying scientist - but no one else was around. Konran was about to ask who Alec was talking to, before Alec reached into his bag and handed something towards him: A wireless communicator. Konran put it into his left ear, listening as Alec said it was how he and his people kept in touch; a party line.

Alec introduced the rest of his people. Kinzoku, someone who used Iron Sand. Kuro, who was a Nara just like him. Konran would have to meet him and see if he could tell him what his mother didn't about their heritage. Kurai and Hikari Yanagi, earth specialists. Finally Jynx, the girl who'd been locked up and experimented on her whole life like he'd been, and Alec's daughter Artemis Kane. Konran turned to look at both. While Jynx looked to be the mixture of a girl and a monkey, Konran didn't judge. Both of them were the same. He waved and said hi to both of them with a slightly confused look on his face.

Konran read about ships in books. He was about to ride on one for real now. At the docks, he could smell the water; a scent he'd never experienced before. There were a lot of people running around, getting ready. Alec got on board, and Konran followed with him, holding the Shift Blade tucked beneath his right armpit while having his arms folded. he was getting used to the smoke, it didn't bother him. The girls wanted to know where they were going first. Konran didn't care, really. Where ever would be fine with him...

"The desert," Alec answered. "It's the closest to here. Kurayamigakure looks like it once might have been part of the desert anyways. I figure we should go there and let folk know what's up before they get the wrong idea. Some of the scum that escaped might have gone there and painted a bad picture of us..."

Alec walked over to the wheel. "We about ready to set sail, guys?" he asked.

"Almost," answered one of the men. "We're loading on the last of the supplies and making last minute preparations as we speak. We'll be ready to set sail in less than 10 minutes..."

"Excellent."

On board the ship Artemis looked around curiously: the last time she had been on a ship she had gotten rather queasy and had spent the majority of the time sleeping until she had heard they were nearing land. This time around she didn't plan on doing that. After glancing around from her spot out of the way she would then shift her attention onto Jynx, suddenly realizing that her friend might very well be completely blind on the ship.

”Jynx, you alright?”, Artemis would ask curiously as she watched the crew go about the ship, finishing up the preparations needed for them to sail off. Artemis was quite curious to get a chance to see the desert village, and would have been excited, but she was far more concerned about Jynx at the moment then that.

Alec responded that they were going to the desert first considering it was the closest here. If any of the headband gang escaped they might've gone there and started spreading rumors about them being bad people so it made sense to squash that issue before it had a chance to really start up. Jynx walked onto the ship too, following behind Artemis, and rather excited to get going: that was until she realized how suddenly very blind she was.

She froze in place, utterly unsure of what to do. She had always relied on Shinsai to see and had never had an issue with not being able to use it. During the time she was jumping and climbing around she had always just judged her jump before hand and put trust in her ability to jump; thus there was no issue about being momentarily blind. But now... well, now she was completely blind. Artemis asked her if she was okay and Jynx reached out towards her, scooting over until she bumped into her lightly. She would find her hand and hold it in her own, while shaking her head no.

”No.. I can't see. At all. Shinsai only works on earth; not on ships.”, she would explain while attempting to keep the panic out of her voice. She was calmer with her hand in Artemis' because she knew her friend wouldn't let her accidentally fall overboard or something similar, but it was still a bit un-nerving of a situation.

A real ship... and it was really in the ocean. Konran wasn't reading a book in a small room trying to imagine how it would be anymore, he was actually here. A man said they'd be ready to go soon, and Alec said the first stop was the desert, since it was the closest to here. Konran had read about deserts too, full of sand. They were said to be hot.

Keeping his look of fascination, Konran went and found somewhere to sit, near the rear of the neck, by the wheel, where Alec would be steering the ship. He brought his knees up to wrap his arms around his legs, keeping the Shift Blade tucked underneath his right arm. The bag on his back made leaning comfortable.

Artemis asked Jynx was she alright, and Jynx responded that she couldn't see. Was there something wrong with her eyes? Would she be alright?... Maybe it was part of whatever the headbands did to her, Konran didn't know...

Alec had almost forgotten about that Shinsai ability. Kurai told him how it worked. It was much like the chakra radar, except it worked with their feet, and only when touching solid ground. There were going to be times when Jynx wasn't touching solid ground, like now, and that could prove problematic.

Alec put the blind fury stick into the back of his belt like he sometimes did, walking over to where Artemis and Jynx were standing. He popped the knuckles on both of his hands. "Jynx, i'm gonna do something here," he said, putting his hands on Jynx's neck, his fingers touching the back of her head. "It's not gonna hurt, but it'll feel strange at first. This will permanently take away some of your chakra, but you'll get used to it."

Alec remembered the way Holeman had done it for him. He sent some of his chakra directly into Jynx's brain, to her Cerebral Cortex, to pass on the Holeman Radar. It should have kicked in directly, allowing her to see with new eyes of chakra. Since the connection to her eyes was being severed so that the radar could go into effect, her other senses - smell, touch, taste and hearing - would all become boosted to super human proportions.

"Can you see me?" Alec asked, waving his hands. "How far you can see depends on how strong you are. Get stronger and you can see farther. At it's strongest level you'll eventually be able to see anywhere in whole countries, as long as it's above ground. Your other senses have been boosted way up too; you'll have to learn to get used to them. Especially your ears. I know people who make special headphones, but if you're good you can learn to bypass it yourself, like I did. With enough practice, you might even develop your own personal perks... just do me a favor and don't tell anyone I gave you that, alright?"

Alec walked back over to the wheel, noticing that Konran had taken a seat. All of this had to be new to him, just like Jynx was from several days earlier. He wasn't going to rush the kid or make him uncomfortable. "Konran, if there's anything you need, or if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask," Alec told him.

Konran went and sat down where he could see the wheel of the ship and looked to be fascinated by what he was seeing: it was the kind of look that Jynx herself had had during her first few days of freedom.

Speaking of Jynx: she answered Artemis' question by saying that she couldn't see anything. Jynx then moved towards Artemis' voice until she bumped into Artemis and searched for her hand; Artemis took hers and held on to it. She had been worried this might happen, and planned on not leaving Jynx's side the entire trip if that was what it took to keep her friend calm. However, it seemed that wouldn't be needed.

Artemis watched as her father walked over and placed his hands on Jynx's neck. After a moment her father asked Jynx if she could see him. And explained that whatever he did – which Artemis guessed was likely give her the chakra radar he had – would get stronger as she got stronger. He also told Jynx that her other senses would be boosted too, which would likely be weird – or so Artemis assumed. Her father asked her not to tell anyone, and Artemis figured Jynx wouldn't.

Artemis grinned, figuring this was going to be cool: Jynx was likely going to be able to see better than she had before, which meant her friend was going to enjoy this trip likely even more than she would have before. ”Excellent!”

When Jynx took Artemis' hand she didn't let go; in fact she held on and the feeling comforted Jynx greatly: to know that Artemis was willing to have her back no matter the situation was a feeling she had never known before but was glad to feel now. She had no idea where Konran was since she couldn't see, but she heard footsteps towards her and then heard Alec's voice from close by. He touched her neck with his hands, and did something to her that felt strange but didn't actually hurt. Alec said that what he was doing would permanently take away some of her chakra, but that she'd get used to it.

She had no reason to fear Alec since he had given her no reason to think he'd harm her, so she remained mostly relaxed. Soon enough whatever it was that Alec had done allowed her to see. It was strange at first, far different than the way Shinsai worked, but she could see all the same. A grin spread across Jynx's face from ear to ear. When Alec asked her if she could see him she nodded her head yes, noticing that along with this new sight also came the fact that her senses seemed all that much stronger too. ”Aye! I can see you! This is amazing.”

Alec told her that the stronger she got the stronger this ability would get, and the further she would be able to see: already she could see pretty far. It was another reason to train, another reason to continue to learn things and grow in strength. Alec said that she might even develop personal perks with this vision, and she was curious to see if that would happen. He also asked her not to tell anyone he gave her that to which she nodded and made a motion like she was zipping her lips shut before she grinned again. ”Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.”, she said excitedly: it was a promise she would definitely keep.

As Alec walked over to the wheel Jynx let go over Artemis hand but stayed by her side: no longer feeling frightened since she could see again. Alec spoke to Konran, saying that if he had any questions to feel free to ask. She could personally say she knew what it felt like to be in his shoes, but knew that he was with good people now and would get used to things hopefully soon enough.

Alec went and did something to Jynx that soon made her really happy, which only made Konran more confused. He said it would permanently take away some of her chakra and it would feel strange. After touching her neck a while, he asked her if she could see, and she said yes.

Konran was truly confused... Was this the way Alec could see with that blindfold? He listened closely to what Alec was saying to save this info to memory: he said that how far she could see depended on how strong she was, and only if it was above ground. He said that all of her other senses had been boosted, and that she'd have to get used to them, especially her ears. It made Konran think that loud noises couldn't have been good for them. If one day he faced an enemy with this strange "blind seeing" ability, he would have to remember that. Alec said that if she got strong enough, she might even develop her own personal perks, and to keep it all a secret.

So Alec had some special sight that allowed him to see without real eyes. Konran wondered how he got such a special ability, and how it worked. He wouldn't ask him this of course. The man was starting to seem more and more mysterious, as well as interesting. As fast and as strong as he was, there had to be all kinds of other abilities that he was capable of, yet he wasn't full of himself like some of the strong people that he'd read about in his books.

When Alec was back by the wheel of the ship, he told Konran that if there was anything he needed, or if he had any questions, not to be afraid of asking. Konran looked down between his boots for a few moments, before looking back to Alec. "...Well, I know Jynx is from Kurayamigakure like me, and that she was locked in a room like I was, and only recently got out... I guess i'm confused on who you are," he responded. "You and Artemis and those other guys... If you're as fast as you are, you have to be a Master, right?... I mean, you have that crazy looking sword there with the white glowing stuff coming off of it, and you didn't even have to use it..."

"We're ready, Captain," one of the crew said as they pulled up the walking board and took up the ropes.

"Alright then, let's move," replied Alec, grabbing hold of the wheel. The crew drew up the anchor, set sail, and the Mossberg began moving away from the dock. Alec didn't need the use of the maps brought to him by the crew, not with his radar, or course.

Konran responded to Alec by saying that he knew about Jynx, but he didn't know about him, Artemis, Kinzoku, Kurai, or Kuro. He said Alec had to be a master since he could move as fast as he could, and because he only used his Stick Sword instead of the Kane Katana.

"A master, huh," Alec said, turning the big ivory wheel to the right. "Nah, I wouldn't say i'm a master... we all learn something new everyday. Don't worry though, i'll tell you all about us. Let's get up river and towards the desert some first..."

The Mossberg began to float further away from Kurayamigakure and towards it's first destination: Sabakugakure.

Artemis listened as Konran asked Alec if they were masters since they were as fast as they were, as well how mentioning how Alec didn't even have to use sword. Her father responded by saying no, he didn't think he was a master, and that they all learned new stuff everyday: something that Artemis agreed with completely. She knew she wasn't the best, despite her skills. Her father then responded that he'd tell Konran about them as soon as they were up the river and on their way to the desert.

Artemis simply kept quiet, shifting so that she could see everything as it passed by. She was curious to hear what her father was going to tell Konran and therefore just kept silent and listened: even if she had lived the story she still liked story time all the same – perhaps it was the little kid in her that she hadn't quite grown out of yet.

Everything was just... amazing. This new sight that Alec had given her was far more enhanced than Shinsai had ever been and it was as if she could suddenly see in a whole different light. Colors, images that were far clearer than they had ever been before, not to mention how enhanced her other senses were. She could hear the crew moving around on deck, hearing each individuals footsteps so well that she could diferentiate between each person. It was definitely a lot to take in.

However, as she heard Alec say that he would explain the whole story to Konran Jynx shifted her attention to him. She was even more excited to get moving now just so she too could hear this tale even though it had already been explained to her: perhaps something new would be mentioned that she hadn't heard before.

Jynx simply plopped right down next to Artemis and wrapped her tail around her waist so that no one nearby accidentally stepped on the thing as she waited. Their adventure was underway and she was one very excited monkey about it!

The ship started to move. Konran had to brace himself from the sudden jerk of the ship moving forward. His first day of freedom, and he was already on his first trip to see the world. This was what he'd always dreamed of, and now it was happening...

Alec said that he wasn't a master, and that he basically had more to learn. Konran just thought he was humbling himself, something described in a book he'd read. Alec said he'd tell him everything, but once they were away from the village and out on the water.

Staring at everything, since it all was new to him, Konran settled in for the ride, looking forward to Alec's story...
