Air Superiority (Open) Empty
PostSubject: Air Superiority (Open)   Air Superiority (Open) EmptyThu Jun 23, 2016 5:45 pm

It had been a period of quiet. Nothing had been heard from the other villages. Besides the usual activity around Kurayami, nothing too serious had gone down. It was safe to assume that what remained of the Headbands were either dead or gone, seeing as no one else had come up missing. Kinzoku and Kuro didn't report on any troubles through the party line as they did their daily patrols on the rooftops and the streets. So, Alec had been given a long period to relax.

So in the downtime, with the Mossberg crew restless from not being out in the waters, Alec sent back home to have the old airship delivered to Kurayamigakure. When it arrived - in many pieces - the crew was more than happy to start putting it back together in the large backyard of the mansion, where there was more than enough room for it, even with how large it was. Weeks had gone by, but it was far from ready to fly. From morning till night the crew toiled away at putting it together. All day the sounds of construction could be heard in the north district.

Alec himself sometimes helped out personally, even though the crew said he didn't have to dirty his hands doing such things. Alec didn't mind helping anyway, saying he didn't like being looked up at as a dictator who ordered his servants to do everything for him. For now though, he sat on the top back porch, smoking "green" from one of his special pipes while sitting in one of the comfortable seats.

PostSubject: Re: Air Superiority (Open)   Air Superiority (Open) EmptyThu Jun 23, 2016 6:18 pm

Things had definitely been looking up. Shizuka had settled in nicely over the past little while into this new life of hers. She had got herself set up with a nice and comfortable place to live - though she preferred being perched on her favorite tower during the day that gave her the ability to see as much of the village as possible - and she was no longer as jumpy when it came to people getting too closer or generally trying to touch her. She also didn't get as angry as quickly as she used to - though, she was still exceptionally protective of Alec Kane and the rest of his family and friends.

Given how quiet things had been lately Shizuka had simply been working slowly on improving her scythe while also still helping to keep an eye on things from her usual perch. She had even found a few books she had rather enjoyed reading - a few she had even read several times over again.

However, none of that held her attention much like the arrival of various parts to something she knew little to nothing about. These parts had been put into the mansion's backyard and had begun to form... something. She had even watched as Alec himself went about helping with it on numerous occasions. Shizuka had no idea what it was, but with how badly her curiosity was burning she didn't think she could hold off 'asking' much longer. Even as she thought about it now she found herself shifting positions so she could safely jump from the tower to various spots nearby that would get her closer and closer to the ground until it was safe enough to just jump straight down without risk of harming herself.

A second or two would pass as she walked up to the mansion and then around it, the sybiotic armor changing from the bodysuit with the hood up she had been wearing into something a bit more comfortable; baggy knee length shorts and a tank top: she only bothered with the full black bodysuit when she was trying to hide in plain sight on top of the tower from would be visitors.

In her usual fashion she would approach Alec, stand nearby without saying a single word - outside of some calm and content humming - and then look toward the device being built with a tilt of curiosity to her head.

PostSubject: Re: Air Superiority (Open)   Air Superiority (Open) EmptyFri Jun 24, 2016 9:23 am

He'd spent the days sharpening his skills and running around to keep in shape. Nothing had really happened since that incident out in the wilds, where they freed that girl Shizuka and finished off the rest of the Headbands. there was the occasional spar with his brother and sisters, but beyond that, things were peaceful.

Something was going on up north. Peope came into the village transporting a lot of stuff, and for weeks there were loud noises coming from up near Sensei's house. Today his curiosity got the best of him, and he decided to go find out what the rukus was all about. He woke up and ate breakfast, then put on Stinger and his utility belt. Exiting the house through his bedroom window to avoid questions, Akira began to make his way up north by rooftop Parkour.

Akira jumped down off the last roof and sprinted across academy grounds. Approaching the mansion, he quickly made his way up one of the walls to the roof, then made his way towards the rear. In the backyard that Alec trained he, his cousin and squadmate Namie, the crew of the Mossberg were putting something together. What was that thing? He thought of going inside to find Alec and ask him, before smelling the smoke. He looked down and saw Alec and Shizuka on the top back porch.

Akira flipped several times to lane ina  crouch and take a knee nearby Alec and Shizuka. "Sensei, Shizuka, morning," he said. "What... is that thing they're building, if you don't mind me asking? I've heard the construction for weeks now."

Quiet. That's how it had been around the village. Not that Heiwa minded at all. Her parents were quite happy with the fact that no trouble had risen up, and her brother and her were getting along so well that there was no in house fighting going on either. All in all, outside of training with her brother when their father was too tired from work to do it, Heiwa had been simply immersing her mind in volumes upon volumes of knowledge in an attempt to learn everything about anything that crossed her path including her own clan.

When Heiwa wasn't busy training, or otherwise had her head in books, she was quite aware that something was going on behind the Kane's mansion. It sounded like some sort of construction, but she hadn't bothered looking to see what exactly was being built. Now though, she had just finished her most recent book and given her brother was asleep she didn't have anything else to do but to allow that curiosity to grow and flourish.

It was time to go and check things out.

Heiwa left the house quietly after a quick conversation with her mother on where she was going, and headed to the north district. She went around the mansion, following the sound, and curious as to what she was going to see. She spotted smoke and realized that her sensei was back there along with Shizuka and Akira. Smiling she would wave and wander over in time to hear Akira asking what was going on. She looked between Alec sensei and the crew who were busy building, waiting for that answer as well.

Sooner or later someone would come investigating all of this noise, Alec knew this. he was surprised no one had come looking sooner; it wasn't like he was exactly trying to keep this a secret. And come someone did, first in the form of Quiet, who, as usual, remained just that, Quiet. Not that Alec would mind. Eyes of chakra noticed someone with a high level of chakra on the rooftops next; Akira. Soon he was kneeling nearby, asking what that was back there, around the same time that his cousin Heiwa appeared next.

Alec took a big hit of his pipe and let the smoke out slowly. He was relaxing in the comfortably padded seat with his left leg resting upon his right knee, his walking stick leaning at his left side. "It's an air ship," he responded. "I had it delivered here from back in Makkura. I don't know if you all know yet, but there's a new country out there, a floating country up in the sky. One day I plan to visit there, see if they're friendly or hostile, see what the people who live there are like. Maybe there's a hidden village there too. Would be interesting to see what their shinobi are capable of... I could send Jr up there since he can fly, but i'd rather do this myself."

The air ship was coming along. It wasn't even halfway put together, but as the days went by, more progress was made. Alec took another large hit of his pipe, choking back a cough. he let the smoke drift from his mouth and nostrils slowly.

PostSubject: Re: Air Superiority (Open)   Air Superiority (Open) EmptySat Jun 25, 2016 6:24 pm

Shizuka inclined her head to Alec, Akira, and then Heiwa in silent greeting before looking toward the construction going on. Thankfully, she didn't have to wait too long for an answer to her silent question as Akira voiced it rather quickly. It seemed both him, and likely Heiwa, were curious as well to what their sensei was having built in his backyard. Shizuka really had never seen such a thing, and found herself wondering what it would look like when it was finished.

Alec didn't leave them in suspense for long though as he quickly explained that it was an air ship. An air ship that he had had sent the whole way from Makkura. to here. That was quite interesting: Shizuka knew that there were jutsu and abilities that allowed people to fly but she had never though of something quite so large being able to do the same thing. However, she was torn from her thoughts with what Alec said next: he mentioned a floating village. One he wanted to explore. He had mentioned the idea of sending Junior since he could fly but seemed to want to go himself and check things out.

Shizuka found herself itching at the idea of going to check it out too. A floating village? It was one thing to make some sort of metal or wooden contraption float, it was entirely something else to make a whole village do that. It definitely had her curious now, head tilted to the side once more as she wondered whether or not if there'd be room for her to go with and see such an amazing sight - though, like usual she kept quiet and didn't voice such a question. It always seemed people could figure out what she was thinking and wondering anyway, so surely someone would mention the idea of her going or not being able to go eventually.

As Shizuka's mind wandered, and her attention shifted onto the airship once more, she found herself also wondering what exactly would happen to someone who fell off of this floating village who couldn't fly... were there precautions in place? Or was someone screwed if they took a topple off the edge?

"An Air ship, huh?... I've never saw one before," responded Akira, standing and leaning on the railing. As he looked it over he could see the makings of some kind of flying machine. Would something that big really fly? "I've only ever heard about them in stories and seen them in books. And you actually have one, Sensei? That's awesome. Now you can ride on the sea and in the sky too..."

Alec said there was a floating village. It was surprising; even Quiet looked intrigued. Alec said he was going to visit there to see if the the inhabitants were friendly or bad guys. he said he could send Jr, but this was something he wanted to do himself. Alec was unlike any authority figure he'd ever seen or heard about; instead of sending people he chose to do things himself most of the time. It made Akira look up to him more and more.

"A country in the sky... I wonder how they pulled that off?" he wondered out loud, leaning backwards on the railing now to face Alec. "When you do visit, would you mind if I came with you, Sensei?"

Alec sensei gave an answer to Akira's - and her's and likely Shizuka's - question: it was an airship which he had sent for from Makkura. Heiwa couldn't imagine why it had had to be taken apart, but then again perhaps it would have been too big put together to transport? Either way it was fascinating to the young Uchiha. Not quite as fascinating however as learning about a floating village - one she hadn't heard about before despite having lived in this country for her entire life.

"Could I come along, too?", Heiwa couldn't help but ask, shifting her attention as she did so from the airship and onto their sensei. She knew Shizuka likely wanted to come too - it was such an interesting idea and likely a grand adventure in the making. A village which floated? How was something like that even possible? Heiwa, the ever diligent scholar, was dying to find out: to witness first hand such a glorious splendor. Of course, she doubted the natives would be so forthcoming with such information, but it would at least be interesting to ask. Plus, who knew, maybe they would tell Heiwa how such a thing worked. She could only imagine a great deal of chakra had to be being used to keep it up - some kind of jutsu that only the very truest of masters were able to pull off.

A grin spread across Heiwa's face, excitement shining in her eyes, at the ideas running through her head. She was barely able to keep herself from bouncing in place as she waited to see if Alec sensei would say yes or no to them being able to come with on such a trip.

Demi had been sleeping a lot lately despite the noise from the construction, but delving head first into a whole bunch of Senjutsu training would do that to you. Demi had found out that the bat clan she was interested in had definitely been a real thing, and not just any normal clan but a Sage clan. Since that realization had hit she had been having stranger and stranger dreams: dreams that felt real, that felt like they were actually happening to her. She could now sleep nearly sixteen hours at a sitting and wake up so utterly exhausted it was as if she hadn't slept at all because of how real her dreams were.

Before she had fallen asleep this last time she had considered talking to her sister about it since Hikari was out of the village and in Morigakure. However, she had fallen asleep before being able to do so. Now, after sleeping well throughout the night, she woke up and stretched as she normally did every morning. A yawn escaped her before she opened up her eyes and saw... nothing.

Darkness.

Demi blinked several times, and then reached up and rubbed at her eyes as if trying to clear something away that could possibly be blocking her vision. It didn't work. Perhaps.. perhaps it was still the middle of the night? She reached over, frantically, before she found the light next to her bed knowing full well she had put a brand new light bulb in it just the night before because it had blew. She flicked the switch once, twice, by the third time her heart rate began to accelerate. She threw the blankets off of herself and stumbled blindly toward the wall by the door, stretching her arms out and feeling her way there. She did the same thing with the light switch on the wall once she found it, flicking it up and down in place...

And then realization hit. She was blind. She couldn't see anything. All of the Genjutsu she knew, all of the ways to protect herself which revolved around sight... useless now. A scream ripped out of Demi before she realized what she was doing, and echoed through the house as loudly as possible...

Even Shizuka seemed surprised. If Alec offered her to travel with him he knew she likely wouldn't hesitate. The cousins Uchiha were both fascinated to know that all of this noise and the big... thing back here was actually a flying airship, and also at the possibility of seeing a country up in the sky. Alec too wanted to know how something like that was possible. Yet there was always the chance that whoever it was up there was hostile.

"Sure," Alec said in response to Akira and Heiwa. "I wouldn't mind. You all need to get out of this village and go see more of the world. There'll be more than enough room for everyone to go. Just make sure you two inform your parents."

Alec took another hit of his pipe. It was when the smoke was rising from his lungs to exit his nose and mouth that the scream reached his sensitive ears. The sarcastic look left his face and was replaced with a serious one. In a blur, he was up from his chair and gone from the porch. In less than a second, he was through the mansion and at the source of the scream. It appeared that something was wrong with Demi. It didn't look like she had been attacked or anything of the sort, and she didn't look injured.

Alec took Demi by the shoulders. "What happened?" he asked. "What's wrong?"

Alec answered Akira's question about whether they could go with by saying sure, and adding that they all needed to get out of the village and see the world. The idea of another adventure excited Shizuka even more and she looked back to the airship being built and wondered how much longer it would take to finish it - she was ready to go now with how excited she was feeling.

That excitement was taken away moments later as a scream reached her ears. Before she could even turn around Alec was gone, disappearing into the house an toward the source of the scream. Shizuka didn't hesitate to follow: the urge to keep the Kane's safe after everything they had done for her was too great to ignore. Albeit a bit slower she too reached the room to see Alec holding Demi by the shoulders, asking her what was wrong.

Shizuka turned her attention onto the room in general, looking for any potential danger, any reason at all for the scream. Her hand toyed with the latch of her gunscythe, ready to free it and put it to use were a reason to present itself. Her face was completely serious, and her humming had stopped, replaced with an easy silence - like the calm before the storm. Demi wasn't the type for dramatics, at least not that Shizuka knew, so something had to definitely be wrong for her to do something like that. But what? What could it be? As Shizuka's gaze leveled the room once more she became oddly aware of all of the lights being on despite it being the middle of the day.... out of place, strange.

Destiny tilted her head to the side, ear toward the ceiling, while she searched for the source of the scream with her chakra radar. She was in the basement, digging through some old boxes from the previous owners and looking for anything that might be considered interesting. Of course, now she hardly cared about the old book she was holding in her hands. Instead, she was focused on her father zooming through the house closely followed by Shizuka - god that girl could move fast when she wanted to - and to Demi's room.

Demi had been the one who screamed.

The book dropped from Destiny's hand immediately as she too began to move. Up the steps, across the foyer, and up yet another set of stairs before she darted down the hallway and into Demi's bedroom. The lights were on, weird for her older sister, and she was standing with her hand on the light switch. Demi couldn't be scared of the dark... and even still it was light outside. Lots of light was streaming through the open windows, the curtains flapping around in the gentle breeze.

Medic mode took over as she too moved over to her sister, noticing the way Shizuka was surveying the room as if looking for a threat, and waited for Demi to answer their father's question.

There was a scream from inside the house somewhere, and his reflexes made him get off of the railing and his right hand go back to the handle of Stinger while looking towards the door. Alec and Shizuka got up and went into the house so fast, his normal eyes couldn't see it. Was something going on? Was someone really stupid enough to attack one of Alec's people?

Akira walked into the house. Black eyes glaze over into crimson red, 3 tomoe. He walked through the room and out into the hall, looking around in all directions. If someone really was attacking, they weren't going to catch him by surprise. Akira would do anything to help out, given everything Alec did for him. If it came down to a fight, then so be it, no matter who it happened to be.

After looking around the halls in a crouched position, keeping his right hand behind him upon Stinger's handle, Akira made his way to the room that Alec, Demi, Shizuka and Alec's other daughter Destiny were in. Alec was asking Demi what was wrong, while Destiny looked to be scanning her, and Shizuka was doing just like he was: looking for threats. Akira, Sharingan eyes active, slowly walked around them in the room, looking for anything out of the ordinary.

Alec sensei said that they could come along with him, that there would be more than enough room when the airship was finished and when he was ready to leave. Even Shizuka was going to be able to come despite the fact that the ever silent female would have likely never opened her mouth and asked. It all brought a grin to Heiwa's face, and she nodded her head in agreement when Alec mentioned they be sure to inform their families where they were going and what they were doing. Heiwa knew her own parents wouldn't mind in the slightest - they fully felt she was completely safe with Alec sensei no matter where they went, they trusted him, so they would never put up a fuss about an adventure to another place. Heiwa also knew her brother was likely going to be a little jealous about the whole ordeal: he was still a bit envious over the fact that she was on Alec sensei's squad to begin with: something he hoped to one day be able to belong to too.

Heiwa was about to open her mouth and speak, to express her joy at the idea of being able to go, when a scream ripped through the air. From the sound of things it came from inside the mansion. Heiwa couldn't imagine the kind of enemy who could have snuck in undetected and got past Alec plus everyone else around. Was someone hurt? Alec was gone in a blur and Shizuka followed almost as quickly - it was still a bit weird to see how fast she could move when she was only a Genin. Akira dashed inside too and Heiwa followed: she wasn't just going to stand out on the porch and do nothing. Her own Sharingan, three tomoe, activated: if a threat got past everyone and into the house then she wasn't going to hold back when it came to safety.

She moved with purpose and caution as she followed Akira and arrived in the same room that everyone else was in. She assessed the situation quickly: Alec with his hands on Demi's shoulders, Destiny nearby looking her over and likely trying to figure out what was wrong with her, Shizuka and Akira both looking for whatever potential threat there could be. Heiwa joined the latter to, stepping off a distance so that their formation would protect the clearly distraught Demi from all sides were whatever happened to be something potentially dangerous and definitely threatening.

"What's going on?", Heiwa voiced softly, all serious: her game face was on, and she was in full shinobi mode.

A smell filled the area as her father arrived; familiar in a way. It was the smell of the smoke that always seemed to be around him. She felt hands on her and knew them to be her father's despite the fact that all she could see and precieve was utter darkness. She was shaking slightly, from head to toe, like a small tremor that just wouldn't stop: fear, in its rawest form and not something Demi normally felt or dealt with enough to know how to control immedaitely.

She felt the air stir nearby as several other individuals seemed to enter in too, but her focus was on the question her father had asked, not on the fact that her screams had brought a calvery into her bedroom. "I... I can't see. I can't see a damned thing. I woke up.. and I couldn't see!" An explosive smell was coming from the side of her, making her well aware her little sister was there and likely looking her over as best she could or so she could only assume since she couldn't actually see what was going on.

"All I see is darkness.. just utter blackness.", her voice broke slightly. She had no idea what she would do if she couldn't get her eyesight back: she relied very heavily on it for most of her abilities. "What am I going to do..?

Hmmmmmh. Demi said she was blind. No one was attacking her or trying anything funny, but it wasn't to say that this wasn't a bad situation. How had this happened? Was this because of that new clan she was dabbling with?

Alec didn't remember ever seeing his daughter this distraught. She didn't seem to know what she was going to do now that she was blind. So for now, Alec reached behind her to put the fingers of his right hand on the back of her neck, sending a small amount of chakra through her spine and to her brain, the Cerebral Cortex to be exact. This would kickstart her own version of the Holeman Radar.

"I can do this for now,"Alec said. "But go easy. Your eyes don't work anymore, but your other senses will be amplified to superhuman levels. It'll take some getting used to. Try to keep away from loud noises and really strong smells. You can get overwhelmed easily, and the headache you get is nothing nice. Get the hang of it, and you can see almost anywhere. There's other things you can do with it too... but i'll let you figure it out."

Alec let Demi go. "If Dez can't figure out what's up with your real eyes then we might have to go visit Holeman. We'll get to the bottom of this one way or another..."

Akira and Heiwa appeared soon after her, and as Shizuka continued to assess the situation at hand she came to the realization that there wasn't a threat present. Whatever had happened to Demi, whatever had caused her to scream, must have come internally not externally. Shizuka's attention shifted over to Alec's daughter as she listened carefully to what Demi was saying. She was blind, she could see nothing at all whatsoever. Shizuka could only imagine the kind of fright that that must have caused, especially for someone who utilized Genjutsu techniques so readily as she had heard Demitria did.

Alec did something to Demi that gave her other senses a boost, but also gave her a warning about the potential side effects if she didn't go easy with it. Shizuka figured that this was the same ability that Alec himself used to see even when blindfolded. Alec then went on to mention that if Destiny couldn't figure out what had happened to Demi's sight they would likely end up visiting Holeman in the desert to see if he could figure it out.

Shizuka's focus shifted onto Destiny, wondering if she would be able to figure such a thing out, and if so what exactly had caused Demitria to wake up completly blind. She also couldn't help but wonder silently that if Destiny found the cause would she be able to reverse it? To fix it some kind of way? Was there a medical technique that could restore Demi's natural vision regardless of the cause of her losing it? Despite the questions burning to be asked Shizuka kept silent and simply listened to see what was going on, and if Destiny could find anything.

Destiny watched as their father gave Demitria the same ability that Destiny had, and he had: Chakra Radar. It would at least hold Demi over until Des could sort out the whole mess with her vision: going from relying on your eyes so much to being utterly and completely blind was indeed enough to make anyone feel afraid. At least this way Demi would be able to see - even if she still couldn't use her occular Genjutsu. Considering what Artemis could do with vocal Genjutsu she was sure Demi and her could put their heads together and figure something out in the short term. Besides, there were more than enough people floating around that if anyone even tried to step to Demi it wouldn't end well - a million different ways for the poor fool who tried to die.

When Alec released Demi Des took the moment to pull a chair over for Demi to sit in; it would make it easier if her elder sister were more her height for her to work. Were Demi to sit Des would go about a thorough examination of Demitria's eyes testing everything from their movement to - with a little penlight she pulled out of her pocket - how they reacted to light and darkness. Everything she found, of course, proved that her actual eyes themselves were working perfectly normal. Which, of course, meant that the problem wasn't her eyes itself but rather her brain.

Destiny frowned, deeply. "I have some bad news and some good news: and I'm not sugar coating either because you have a right to know what's going on. The good news is your eyes are working perfectly fine. They respond to light and darkness like they should, as well as movement. Your eyes followed my pen precisely even if your brain didn't precieve what was going on. That brings on the bad news; this means that there is something between your eyes and your brain that is blocking the signals so that your brain can properly process what your eyes are seeing." Destiny slipped her penlight back into her pocket with a sigh.

"Holeman has abilities that let him see what's wrong with someone better than I do... so it might be a wise idea to make a trip to him regardless just to double check if I'm right... but I do have an assumption. I know you've been studying that bat senjutsu clan pretty hard, and I also know that senjutsu is powerful enough to cause... alterations... within a person sometimes. I'm thinking that might be what's happening to you, Demi. Bats are blind naturally, but have other abilities that allow them to see anyway. Perhaps this is the beginning of you gaining such a sensory ability... Like I said, it's only an assumption... but it's the only thing I can think of. You've been in the house for the past few weeks busy studying on them - nothing else has changed. So this is the only trigger I could think of outside of being able to see exactly what your brain is doing." It wasn't the greatest of news, but at least Destiny had a working assumption; one that was rather plausible all things considered.

PostSubject: Re: Air Superiority (Open)   Air Superiority (Open) EmptyMon Jun 27, 2016 9:19 am

No one had attacked Demi, so Akira stood up straight again and took his hand from Stinger, but kept his Sharingan active, just in case. Demi said she woke up blind, and seemed hysterical. Alec did something to the back of her neck, describing how her eyes didn't work anymore, but her other senses would be boosted to superhuman levels. So what he probably did was giver her the ability to see just like he did, that radar of his.

Destiny did her analysis next, with Akira watching and listening in fascination. He had a hard time believing that this little girl was really older that what she looked, but with the way she talked, there was no doubt. Destiny said that nothing was wrong with Demi's eyes, there was just something blocking the signals from her eyes to her brain. She said it was probably due to the Senjutsu clan she was studying, having to do with bats. Destiny said it was probably the beginning of a new form of sensory.

"Echolocation, huh? That's how bats can "see" the environment. I read it in a book once..." Akira voiced out loud. Destiny said that maybe she should get a second opinion from Holeman just to be on the safe side, as he had the ability to see something wrong with someone better than she did. It was all a lot to take in; little kids with amazing abilities, kids younger than he was. Yet Holeman was an amazing little dude, he'd switched his and his cousin's eyes after all.

There was no danger within Demi's room, and in fact it seemed nothing had attacked her at all, or harmed her in any way. At least, no outward threat. There was definitely something wrong seeing as she was blind, but what could cause such a thing? Heiwa knew little on such matters so she simply remained and watched while relaxing herself out of her fighting pose. Like her cousin she too kept her Sharingan activated on the off chance that some outside source did happen to cause this issue after all.

Alec gave Demi an ability, like the same one that allowed him and Des to see. At least Demi wouldn't be stuck stumbling around blindly, even if she still wouldn't be able to use her eyes to cast illusions on people. Heiwa was pretty sure that Artemis, as cool as she was, would help Demi out with vocal Genjutsu the same she had helped Heiwa herself.

Destiny gave her examination using a penlight; making Demi's eyes follow it from side to side and even up and down which they did flawlessly. She also checked out how her pupils would react to the light to find that they did indeed function properly - things Des herself vocalized moments later. This was good, but it meant that there was a deeper issue when it came to Demi's eyesight not working properly. Destiny mentioned that going to see Holeman for a second opinion would be a good idea, even though she assumed it had something to do with the bat senjutsu clan that Demi had been studying so hard. Akira mentioned echolocation, the way that bats could 'see' despite being blind, and Heiwa couldn't help but think it was a rather cool sounding idea.

PostSubject: Re: Air Superiority (Open)   Air Superiority (Open) EmptyMon Jun 27, 2016 9:57 am

Her father touched the back of her neck and she felt a small bit of chakra enter her which caused a change to occur: an ability being added. While Demi was still blind in the occular sense she could now see everything. This was vision even better than her norm, and it worked so much farther too. Her father was right though - her other senses had boosted as well. Everything sounded so much louder - normal conversation sounding like it was nearly being shouted. She could feel the very air around her much easier now, too, as if her skin had become hyper sensitive: every little movement that caused the air to stir being one she felt as if being touched by a physical form. Her sense of smell was also enahnced - each individual in the room seeming to have their own unqiue scent signature about them. It was... far better than what she had been able to do, and a bit overwhelming though in a good way. This would allow her to move about without risking bumping into things, or stumbling around blindly which was nice. She could deal with the loss of some of her Genjutsu so long as she was able to see.

It was enough to have her relaxing, instead of being in the near hyperventilating state she had been in moments before. "Thanks, dad."

Destiny pulled a chair over and Demi sat down, allowing her sister to go about her examination. With her new ability to see she could see everything that her sister was doing, as well as the fact that Demi's eyes were responding to it even if her brain was not precieving what was going on. It was... strange, this sight. But she was still very thankful for it. Destiny gave her medical opinion, holding nothing back and refusing to sugar coat. Demi's eyes were working perfectly, which meant that there was something between her eyes and her brain stopping her from being able to actually see. She had an assumption that it had something to do with the Senjutsu clan she had been studying given bats were blind, but that going to Holeman might be a good idea regardless since he had abilities that allowed him to see things Destiny herself could not. Akira spoke up too about Echolocation; an ability that allowed bats to see since they were blind.

"I didn't think of it that way... then again, I was freaking out because I hadn't expected to wake up blind. I don't mind taking a trip to the desert to see Holeman if you think a second opinion is best, Dez. Though, you're likely right with your assumption... I had read something about Echolocation too, though only briefly." This was better; she was calmer now, not freaking out like she had been. Answers, even if not all good, were better than no answers at all.

Alec could see that she was distraught, but after giving her another way to see she calmed down. He listened to Dez's diagnosis. She said nothing was wrong with her eyes, but something was blocking the nerves to her brain, preventing her from seeing. So Demi had been studying and training a bat Senjutsu clan? Then it began to make sense why she would go blind. Akira mentioned echolocation which further cemented the speculation.

"Bat senjutsu, then... interesting," Alec said, a hand holding a wrist behind his back as if he were hand cuffed. How would it be fully matured? It was interesting to think about. Alec was all for seeing new things. "You're a good enough med as is Dez, but if you really think we should go to Sabaku to see Holeman, then I guess we'll have to make a trip to the desert. That something you up for, Demi?"

Alec hadn't planned on going anywhere until the air ship was done, but he wouldn't mind an earlier trip. He didn't have to worry about Demi being blind and stumbling around anymore, but this was something she probably would want to get to the bottom of. Alec himself was always for visiting Holeman anyways.

Demi seemed to be calming down greatly now that Alec had given her a way to see even though her eyes weren't working. Destiny gave Demi a thorough look over once she was seated and found Demi's eyes to be working perfectly. This was both good and bad news because that meant that the problem lay deeper within Demi's mind - something that Shizuka could only assume wouldn't exactly be an easy fix.

Shizuka dropped her hand down to her side and simply listened to the conversation at hand. Destiny assumed that Demi's new condition could be a result in her dabbling in the bat senjutsu clan - that sometimes doing so could cause alterations to someone. Well, Shizuka happened to agree: was she not proof of that herself? Then again, she didn't know who all knew her condition was due to the Senjutsu clan she belonged in and who simply figured she was the result of experimentation. Either way, even with such an assumption made, Destiny seemed to think it was still a good idea to go see Holeman in the desert and get a second opinion since he had ways to see things that Destiny did not.

Akira mentioned echolocation, an ability bats had to see the world around them without actually being able to see it. Demi then mentioned that she too had read something about it when going through the clan's information. Could this be why she was blind now? Was Demi about a gain a new sensory ability? Shizuka simply looked between everyone, curious as to how this was all going to play out in the end.

Destiny nodded her head when Akira mentioned echolocation. That could be exactly why Demi had suddenly gone blind: a new ability about to be born within her. Still, these were guesses where Destiny liked hard facts. She wanted to be safe and sure when it came to her sister - she still preferred a second opinion. "I still think it'd be for the best to go see Holeman. Just to make sure. I don't like playing games with things like these. You've been given another form of sight, so you'll be alright for now, but I do want to make sure that this isn't something that'll spread."

A thoughtful look crossed Destiny's face for a moment before she held her finger up. "Stay here.. this'll just take a moment." She would duck quickly out of hte room and into the nearest bathroom. A clean white cloth was pulled down from the shelf and wetted with luke warm water. Destiny rang the excess water out and then grabbed a fresh set of bandages out of the medicine cabinet. She hurried back into the room, hoping to find her sister still seated where she had left her.

"If you're going to the desert I want you to keep this on your eyes. You want be able to see if any dust or sand gets into them so it's better to be safe than sorry. Plus, the coolness will help keep your eyes safe." If Demi didn't complain or argue she would place the damn cloth across her eyes and then use the bandages to hold it in place, ensuring they were kept properly safe and clean.

"Whose going with Demi on this trip?", she asked suddenly, turning her attention to her father now that she was done wrapped her sisters eyes up: she already knew there was no chance Demi was going to cross the desert alone - even with her eyes it was too dangerous considering the cannibals wandering around.

Things were back calm for the most part. Alec gave Demi another way to see, and Destiny had the problem figured out, but suggested Demi go to the desert to see Holeman for a second opinion, even with Alec saying she was good enough. Akira's parent probably wouldn't be too keen on him going back to the desert right at that moment, he knew it, so he wasn't going to ask to go. Alec and Demi would be plenty fine on their own out of the village.

"I have to stick around here for now," Akira said, his eyes turning back to their normal black color. "You two will be ok out there though, right? Not like you have a long journey or anything, Holeman is practically right next door."

Akira was mostly looking forward to the completion of the airship, and traveling to the new floating country. That was going to be a sight to see, he knew it. There was also the chance that whoever it was living up there were evil. Would there be a fight? Akira would be sure to train himself before leaving to make sure he was sharp, just in case.
